Renowned French anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss has died, aged 100. One of the most influential French intellectuals of the 20th Century, he founded the structuralist school of anthropology in the 1950s.

NEW YORK, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Punk-rock poet and musician Jim Carroll, who chronicled his wild teen years in "The Basketball Diaries," has died of a heart attack, his ex-wife told The New York Times.
One of the original protagonists of the Cuban revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque, has died of heart failure at the age of 82, according to state media. Almeida was one of several vice-presidents in the Council of State under Raul Castro.
